How does a medical alert button work? Rate this question: Up Down asked by AniS (Denver, CO) Reply to this Question
  • Medical Alert Button "I always thought a medical alert button just called for medical help immediately, but it doesn't. Apparently it's hooked up to a special phone, so when the button is pushed, it calls that phone, which is left with a loved one."

  • Medical Alert Button "Well, a medical alert button is set up to notify a family member if something happens. Then, if need be, the family member will have a direct line to call an emergency medical crew."

  • No I fell on our patio.

  • The button is wireless and in it's self just triggers a base station that completes the call,

Is there a personal alert bracelet for my spouse that would alert me not 911? I'm in the house but he recently fell and I didn't hear his calls for help? Rate this question: Up Down asked by (Edgewood, NM) Reply to this Question
  • There are emergency phone dialer systems that come as either a bracelet or a pendant. These systems call the first numbers programmed into them, which in this case would be you. Many of them can be programmed with up to 5 numbers, which may include 911 and only charge for the services that you use. You can see and order one of these systems at http://assistivetechnologyservices.com/emergencyphonedialerwithwirelesspendant.aspx. You can see another one at http://www.amazon.com/Help-Hand-Emergency-Telephone-Dialer/dp/B00012K246.

  • Making a Stethoscope at OSU I found a website that has a description of a stethoscope and has an assignment on making your own stethoscope that seems pretty good. It seems like a pretty good experiment for elementary school students. Check out Making a Stethoscope at OSU.
