I am having the same problem, finding a lawyer to take a case against another lawyer in Birmingham,Al. Could anyone on this site help me?

This is exactly my issue too, no one wants to take on my Ex-husband's lawyer, they all seem afraid of him. (My ex was able to obtain him, even when I had gone to this lawyer 2 times within 3 yrs. of retaining my 1st lawyer.) My lawyer was very eager to help me when I retained her. I paid her and basically that was the end of it. She did not help me at all in court, and in fact seemed to be working with my ex's lawyer. I was given full custody of my two teenage girls, my 13yr. old car, claiming backruptcy to cover his court awarded debt too. He received the house with over 30,000 in equity, 38,000 of my profit sharing/401K,(this included 6 years of working for the company, that I didn't even know him), and his 2+ yr.old truck, the boat, the family dog, bare bone child support, doesn't have to cover any insurance for the girls. Even my newest lawyer let him take everything he wanted, so as not to make anyone, including the judge mad. This happens to people, it sickens me. What can be done, I have no more money, and they know that. Now, my ex decided that he doesn't want to pay 1/2 of medical bills, and may stop paying child support, as he knows I don't have the money to pay anyone to take it to court again, and there isn't a lawyer in the area that will do anything about it. I have tried and tried to get help on the internet, without luck. Is there anything that can be done?

You don't have to have an attorney to file for bankruptcy, but an attorney can be help with the paperwork. Also, your creditors usually have legal representation so it may be for the best if you are represented as well.
-
You can file a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy on your own. However, with a Chapter 13 you'll probably need a lawyer. Also, the more valuable your property -homes, cars, etc - the more you should consider a lawyer in order to make sure you don't lose anything of value through the Bankruptcy process.
-
Yes - you are legally allowed to file for bankruptcy on your own. All you need to do is follow the Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure.
-
You need to contact a reputable attorney who specializes in tax law. He or she can help advise you as to the least painful path out of this situation. If you can't afford an attorney, it may be worthwhile to contact the IRS and ask one of their counselors for some frank advice on your situation. At least they can help you understand how bankruptcy would affect your back taxes, if at all. Good luck.
-
You can file bankruptcy every seven years, unless the laws are different where you are. But since it's a federal thing I think you can do it now by law.
-
It depends on a number of circumstances; often it isn't possible to discharge back taxes in bankruptcy, but it is in some cases if the back taxes are over 3 years old.
-
The same happened to me, I too am looking to sue my ex attorney.
-
Just because it's a lawyer you're taking to court, it would not be required to find any special kind of lawyer. It would be a good idea to see if the Bar Association can help if the lawyer broke any of their major rules. Do proceed with caution since the lawyer would have knowledge and connections in the legal field as well as the taboo against lawyers suing other lawyers on their side.
